It's a Window Wonderland in our Neighbourhood!

If you’ve taken a stroll through our neighbourhood in the last few weeks, you may have noticed something different. Yonge Street has suddenly been transformed into a winter wonderland, well actually, more like a Window Wonderland! This month, students from Ryerson Retail Management partnered with businesses in the area to decorate their storefront in a winter-inspired theme as a part of the Downtown Yonge BIA’s Winter Magic event.

There has already been some great Winter Magic events this month, including Illuminite and Ice, Wine & Dine. Tons of people showed up to both of the events and in turn our neighbourhood has been booming with holiday spirit. It’s been nice to see the Window Wonderland displays up during this time for our neighbours and visitors to enjoy.

Seventeen businesses joined the competition this year, including Aura’s developer Canderel! A window at the front of The Shops at Aura was decked out in holiday decor, as well as the window at Duke’s Refresher at the base of our building. Some of the other participants from our great neighbourhood include Salon Liberte, Ateaze, Just Gorgeous, Banh Mi Boys, Fido, Marble Slab, and Izakaya.

Now that the window displays are finished, photos have been posted on the Downtown Yonge Facebook page where you can go in and vote for your favourite out of the finalists. That winner will receive the People’s Choice Award, and there will be another winner which is Judge’s Choice. The winning student designers will get a number of gift cards to businesses in the area.
